The Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), the most modern exhibition centre in the world, inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in 2007, is now under Falcon Eye Technology’s close surveillance. The venue having around 60 major exhibitions confirmed per year, from large scale public shows such as the Abu Dhabi Book Fair to international trade exhibitions such as IDEX and ADIPEC, is continuously monitored by a sophisticated Close Circuit Television (CCTV) system installed by Falcon Eye Technology.
With over one million people visiting the centre each year, with 12 Halls totalling 55,000 square metres, it is also the largest exhibition venue in the Middle East. ADNEC is becoming famous for high profile, large-scale exhibitions but also for sophisticated systems such as CCTV monitoring.
With the new FET system in place all events at the venue can now be recorded in highest image quality at 25 fps. In case officials suspect that some intruders might have mingled with the other visitors, individual visitors can be located by the cameras and magnified up to the size of a passport photograph. “Owing to the outstanding image quality of the recordings, we are able to obtain usable image material, even at great distance,“ says a security official at ADNEC.
The system comprises more than 500 IP based cameras manufactured by Infinova. Cameras are connected to the network through Cisco edge switches distributed over sub-control rooms to provide local monitoring for each exhibition hall.
A fiber optic network connects all edge switch to a redundant Cisco core switch and to a centralized archiving system. Recorded video is stored for a period of one month. Using the latest technology in video analytics, operators can create alarm conditions based on motion of various scenarios
